What Is Speedometer Calibration Test, Anyway?
When you bring your car to Dewitt’s Automotive Center for a speedometer calibration, our technicians will hook your vehicle up to a dynamometer. They will then run your car at various speeds, and compare readings from the dynamometer, which is the actual speed your car is doing, to the reading on your speedometer. A speedometer calibration test certificate is then generated that states how many miles your speedometer is off.
Do I Need a Speedometer Calibrated Test?
Traffic Courts often drop or reduce a speeding ticket or reckless driving ticket based on a “faulty equipment plea.” We provide a notarized speedometer calibration certificate FREE along with the calibration test fee. The speedometer calibration test is $70.00 which includes a notarized certificate. These speedometer accuracy certificates are accepted in most courts including those in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, North Carolina, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
